Also, I'll think about the drug question. Though I'm afraid to lose the mystique. What if Ralph Bakshi didn't ever do drugs???
I picture Oliver Stone riding around the desert doing shrooms, shooting Natural Born Killers, with Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis and wonder if Bakshi, Gordone and Crothers went around smoking reefer while shooting Coonskin. It sure does seem like they had a great time together. It would make sense.
I'll ask, but I'm afraid of the answer. Bakshi seems too together to have ever done drugs to me. I guess we'll see. (I'll love his films and art just the same either way) |
Fine time for idea #3; I didn't see this in any of the questions if it has been asked, let me know, but here it goes
In Wizards, the character "Avatar" seemed like he had similarities to a particular type of character, or any character rather that had a basis on the personality and mannerisms of Avatar? _________________ Coming soon:

I know it may become frustrating for some that their questions have already been answered but it's an obvious effect of this interview system that there will be repeated questions.
The whole point of my system is to avoid Victoria, or Mr. Bakshi having to wade through all the posts that inevitably appear on this forum. I do not mind in the least clarifying and allowing second, third and even fourth attempts at a unique question.
Hunter, Bakshi has stated that he wanted Peter Falk aka Columbo, because that was the exact character type he was looking for in Avatar.
I'm sure you'll find a good one. Also, you don't have to feel obligated to ask one. I will have plenty that have been gleaned from the forums as well. I just try to keep the lines of communication open as much as possible with this threaded questions system.
Sincerely,

I must of missed it then,
and I am still waiting for any answers from my last one >.>
but for this one, I think I am not gonna ask one, since most of my questions are irrevelant, and probably all been asked. _________________ Coming soon:

Spain Rodriguez saw your Fritz the cat film along with Bob Crumb and a few other friends of his, and they all hated it. How did he end up working on Cool World? Did you not directly interact with him, or did you forgive you?
You wouldn't happen to have any of the deleted scenes from Cool World (specifically, the denizens of the Slash club becoming 'Noids)? Or any stills from them?
Is there any chance that you could make ammends with Paramount/Viacom so we can get a DVD of Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures (which is co-owned by Viacom, yourself and John W. Hyde) and a DVD of Cool World with a lot of cool extras? I know what they did to you on Cool World was wrong, even by Hollywood standards, but most of the executives who worked at Paramount during the making of Cool World have most likely left the company. And it's not healthy to hold grudges. (Plus I REALLY want MM:TNA and a SE of CW :D ) |

Need to edit that one, and I'll ask him about it.
Also, please stick to one question per available thread (great questions though the Cool World info is already being looking into from prior interviews), simply because there is plenty of time to do this and I don't want to run out of questions or have people run out of questions and not be able to participate in the future.
Hope You Understand,

I noticed the CW questions I asked vanished and as Brother Rabbit said they had already been asked before, and are pending, One other question does come to mind:
Does Ralph have any comments regarding sketching characters on a Tablet computer using sketch software like Alias Sketch, Mirage, or whatever ..vs... doing it the good old pencil/paper way?
(this additional info may help phrasing the question more precisely as there are two basic breeds of computer sketch software;
1. bitmap (however Ralph sketches will be how it will look. Examples: Alias Sketch, Mirage, Photoshop, Painter)
2. vector (always draws clean, uniform, consistant lines. Examples; Flash, Toon Boom Studio, etc.) ) _________________ 2D ain't ded yet!

Hey Ralph,
I've heard rumors that you did the opening for the US version of "8th Man." Is this true?
The opening in question can be seen here.
Also, do you remember Gene Deitch when he was at Terrytoons? What was he like? _________________ Charles Brubaker

I wanted to comment on this - Crumb told this story, but he only mentioned what he thought of the film, not what the others thought of the film. Maybe Rodriguez and some of the others in the group liked it, and some didn't, who knows? _________________ Watch me dance! |

Did you ever consider doing a version of Peter S. Beagle's novel, "The Last Unicorn"? It has a Wizards like feel to it, blending social commentary, fairy tales, the comical, the tragic, the light, the heavy and the terrible. The Rankin Bass version is cute and all, but it would have been very interesting to see your take on the story.
