Has Nickelodeon been talking to you about working with the production of the new Mighty Mouse CGI animated movie they are making in conjunction with John Woo and Barry Jackson?

I don't know if that'll work! The animation on Mighty Mouse was so... flexible? I don't know if that's the right word. But you know what I mean.

Here's a look at early concept image of the CGI Mighty Mouse: http://bcdavis.com/archives/december0303.htm

Here's info on who's hired to write the film: http://bcdavis.com/archives/march0603.htm

Here's an editorial on the conept image by Neil Beck (a friend of BCDavis): http://bcdavis.com/archives/january2904ed.htm

Here's opinion: I don't think the concept image of Mighty Mouse is all that off-model, maybe if they gave him a more Mighty Mouse-looking face it would work. I'll wait until clips of the movie and the final film are released before I give any opinions on the film itself. I really hope that old Mighty Mouse cartoons (including Bakshi's MM:TNA) get released DVD and/or TV to tie-in with the movie.

Not bad! I never thought I'd have to ask this, but is that a photo of a clay model or an actual 3-D image? If I cover up his face with my thumb, I can almost say it'd be a good idea.

I'm sure a Mighty Mouse Petition would be pointless now. They will most likely release the cartoons, both original and New Adventures on Special Edition to coincide with the release of the new film.

That would be cool if Mr. Bakshi could at least consult on the new project.

Thanks for Posting This,

Brother Rabbit

A CGI Mighty Mouse movie will be a great thing. Look how well Pixar did "The Incredibles." Beautiful work.

Nickelodeon's got Barry Jackson on board as director. He's the one that did the work on "Shrek." They're throwing serious money at this because they want to start a franchise again.

The script is written. It's going to be full of action and humor (they're gonna poke fun at superheroes, like Bakshi did).

They haven't chosen voices yet. Personally, I'd love to see Hugh Jackman play the voice of Mighty Mouse and Tim Curry be Oil Can Harry. (Hugh Jackman can sing. He was just in a Broadway show and is currently working with John Woo (Mighty Mouse movie producer) on a musical gangster movie in Australia. Or was, anyway. It might have wrapped. Hmm... possibilities here...)

That's all the info I have right now. This movie should be pretty good. CGI animation has come a long way. I think you'll be happy. I know I will be.

About the MM image: This was a concept image. He probably won't look like that in the movie. But, if he does, I just hope that they do away with the long red gloves (that's a bit much). I do hope that some images of what he will trully look like in the movie gets leaked out sometime in the near future.

As for the movie itself: I am trully looking forward to this. I've been a fan of MM's for a loooong time and collector of his for 12 years now. I grew up on the Bakshi MM series, so I have him to thank for getting me into MM :) For the record Mr. Bakshi, I was one of the kids who WAS watching this series. I read articles about this series that said that more adults watched than kids did, but I was watching and never missed an episode :)

I just hope that they use Mike Mouse in the movie. He was one of the things that made the Bakshi series so great. If they give him another name, it would just be wrong. Oh, and sure...Pearl had no idea of who Mike Mouse really was  I think that his yellow sleeves gave him away :D Yet another bit that made this series such a classic for MM :)

As to what to look for: I would say that a DVD set should be on the way. If Viacom/Nickelodeon wants MM to be in the public eye to promote him for this movie, it would be one of the best ways to do this. I also hope that they put out a DVD set for MM's Playhouse series. This year marks the 50th anniversary of that series. By the way, I love the idea for the Bakshi DVD set :)

You can also expect to see a new (C.G.I.) TV series on Nickelodeon following the movie. Comic book series would also follow. Plus tons of collectibles (I'm looking forward to this).

I can tell you that there is a MM history book in the works for him now. The Harry N. Abrams Publishing Co. is working on this project. How do I know about this? Well, they got me involved. I own my own MM site on the Net and they saw it:
http://users.erols.com/vseth/
Just a little something that I posted back in 1997.

Anyhow, they took pics of my MM collection and I told them a bit about MM. The book should be out sometime around the time of the MM movie. The movie should be out sometime by late next year or sometime in 2007. Oh, and an MM calendar will be out by Aug. or Sept. of this year.

Don't worry, the MM movie will be great and worth the wait :) Sorry also if this post is a bit long  Just had a lot to say I guess

Wow, I would expect Barry Jackson at least to contact you. Hmmm...

Can Hollywood really be this disorganized??? Someone give Mr. Bakshi a call.

It would be a great intro into CGI for Mr. Bakshi.

Oh, well...

That is unfortunate. I loved the "Mike Mouse" aspect Mr. Bakshi gave Mighty Mouse in the series. It gave him a more, "regular Joe" quality to him. A guy with problems we all have: he needed to have a job to make money to put food on the the table and have a roof over his head.

I've written a lot of Mighty Mouse fan-fiction and done a lot of fan art over the past few years that's way outside the box. Bakshi's been a huge influence on me. I grew up with the series. A few of my stories are based on the series directly.

Here's one Mighty Mouse painting I did in Photoshop:

More of my artwork and fan-fiction is at my Mighty Mouse site at:
http://bcdavis.com just in case you're curious.

I hope Nickelodeon contacts Bakshi and asks for some input from him. It would be a wise move on their part.

That's definitely a photo of an actual model. Not a 3-D image..

Sorry to hear that Mr. Bakshi was not contacted for the MM movie. Well, I guess that's Hollywood for you. I know that if I was making the movie, I'd be sure to ask for his help. He and his team did such a great job on the 80's MM series. A series before it's time. Look at all of the doors that it help to open.

As I've said before, if anything else I hope that they use Mike Mouse in this movie.

I also hope that sometime in the future Mr. Bakshi can perhaps be a part of something else for Mighty Mouse.

Thanks for making such a great series for Mighty Mouse Mr. Bakshi Smile And also for opening my eyes to the great "Mouse of Steel" Smile
