I'm just curious. What is Mr. Bakshi's opinion of Don Bluth? Maker of animated movies such as The Secret of NYMH, An American Tail & The Land Before Time. What does Ralph think of him and his work? Have him and Mr. Bluth ever met? Has Ralph ever considered working with him? _________________ "Why does a great actor like James Earl Jones always have to play black men?"

| Ralph Bakshi and Don Bluth might work together but time would end. |

Does that mean they hate each other? _________________ "Why does a great actor like James Earl Jones always have to play black men?"

Their artistic styles and the intent/content of their stories are wholly disparate. Come on now, it's absolutely clear: Bluth is better than Disney, but he's still "Disney" - Ralph's no such thing.
They could never work together and still retain their characteristic elements - it doesn't stand to reason that anyone who is a fan of either artist/director should even want it to happen.
I don't know if that is what you were saying you're after - for them to work together - you never state it explicitly. Just the same, though... |

Actually, that's part of what I wanted. I've always loved the beauty, style and wonder that Don put into his work and I always loved the drama, depth and dark, gritty realism that Ralph put into his work. That's why I've always thought it would be interesting if they were to get together and combine their talents to create, would could be, the greatest animated feature ever.
The rest of what I wanted was to know just how does Mr. Bakshi feel about Don Bluth and his work. Does he love him? Hate him? What's his feelings on the whole matter? _________________ "Why does a great actor like James Earl Jones always have to play black men?"

I haven't seen too many of Don Bluth's films...
Check that - I haven't seen too many GOOD Don Bluth films.
But I do really like The Secret of N.I.M.H. and (especially) An American Tail. The one thing that's noticeably unique between those two films is Bluth's very stylish decision to have the human characters noticeably stand out from the mice and rats by interpreting them with rotoscoping while using regular animation techniques for non-human characters. This creates a juxtaposition between realistically drawn animated humans and cartoonishly drawn rodent characters.
Anyway, that's just my opinion. |
