well I may be torn apart for this but depending on who owns what of CW (who owns CW negatives?? outtakes?? are negatives/outtakes available??) perhaps another "directors cut" of CW could be made from those!
As for CGI "ruining it", CGI should only go so far as Ralph would ALLOW it to go (my 2c; use it to fix up some technical glitches and help add in whatever animation/outtakes/etc. that Ralph feels would enhance CW). |

| Oh yeah, Joe Dante; he's a good choice after all, he made good horror films like The Howling and Gremlins Parts 1 and 2. |

Yes, I know what the original story was. The whole "Bastard child of human and cartoon" thing.
And I know that nothing in the prequel comics reveals anything about Cool World's history.
And I understand that the movie isn't really about the story, but the metaphors found in it. But call me a sucker for a good story because I thought that this movie had a lot of potential to tell one. I just thought that it would have been neat to touch on Cool Worldis mythology. Reveal how the Cool World came to be. How Doc Whiskers created the Spike of Power. What Frank Harris and the Doc did while they mapped out the passageway between both worlds. Things like that. _________________ "Why does a great actor like James Earl Jones always have to play black men?"

| You know, another director I suggest for a Cool World remake should be Stephen Hopkins (Dir. of Nightmare on Elm Street 5 and Predator 2). |

| are you for real? the only director to remake cool world would be Bakshi. It was his idea AND script. look what happened when someelse rewrote the script. imagine if someone else directed. and seeing as bakshi is making his last film (i'm very excited) i doubt this would happen. i guess we must marvel at what could have been. |

You might be interested in hiring Fritz Lang, or Chuck Jones Movie Brat. |

Okay...maybe this can satisfy everyone...and this question is for Ralph directly:
Is the original script spared? Is there anyway we can c anything from the script, or even chunks of it, or even sketches?
I just thought this would b a much greater possibilty then a remake...I wouldn't want 2 go further with what Cool World was rather than what it should have been...and maybe that is why there were no extras on the DVD, simply because the stuff that Ralph worked 4 was not used...and it's not like his name was taken off the credits, it's still his film...but I would imagine Ralph would only want 2 dig 4 HIS original concept...and of course, u can't add that stuff on the Paramount DVD...or can u? ...I doubt it.
Forgive me if this was already asked a while back on this forum, I'm not sure, I don't remember...but it would b cool if there was something or anything from the original plot that we can all c here (at least) on this website...I hope it all wasn't literally thrown out 4 good.
(Maybe I should have started a new topic as this, but what the hell...unless u c fit Brother Rabbit?) |

Well, regarding that JC, and everyone.
Victoria has repeatedley voiced the concern about haveing to wade through the various posts that follow a question.
I'm not saying we can't respond to the initial questions (or even ask new ones later in a thread, like JC has. ) in a thread anymore. I'm just saying keep em short and to the point for Victoria's sake. I'm thinking one paragraph or less will suffice. Hope you agree.
Sincerely,
Brother Rabbit
PS
This means if a topic has a particularly interesting discussion occuring, I'll move it over to the Bakshi Discussion section. I hope this works. _________________ Last Days of Coney Island Kickstarter | Bakshi Media Page | Bakshi's Official Facebook

Rabbit, thanks for info. Sounds like CW's one case where "fix it in post" won't work! Also sorry to hear Ralph's idea got so twisted around that a completely different movie got made, rather than the movie being "altered" by simply omitting and/or using different takes. I've worked on a few of those kind of movies myself.
Perhaps some day Ralph's ORIGINAL script for CW will get optioned and done the way he wants it to....or the money will appear so he can do it the way he wants to. |
