It's the auction with the gallery image of Mikey holding a whip with a sour puss.
It ends in 7 days.
Bakshi was telling me about how John would sit in the studio and draw those caricatures of him and the other crew then post them on his cubical walls or on his door. Krantz didn't seem to like it from the looks of things though.
It's interesting how much time Sparey spent making birthday cards for crew members.
He also seems to have thought Bakshi was mad in film-making technique, but seems to have genuinely enjoyed working on the films.
You gotta love the Fritz sketches and we finally have a pic of Bakshi with the New York Dolls, though it's not the best shot of the Dolls.
Thanks to Gazin Auctions for sending the link. _________________ Last Days of Coney Island Kickstarter | Bakshi Media Page | Bakshi's Official Facebook

Those Heavy Traffic script pages were very interesting. I had always assumed that Michael's opening monologue over the scenes of violent inner-city street life was scripted and his conversation between him and Mo (As it's written in the script ) on the rooftop was all improvised. Huh. I'd love to see this and the other Bakshi screenplays get up on the website somehow.
There's a lot of really interesting stuff in this auction. Someone should scan all of this stuff and upload it online so that everyone can look at it. _________________ Watch me dance! |

Apparently John Sparey got a look at the auction and decided he hadn't gone through the materials thoroughly enough. He's had the lister (who purchased the materials completely legit) remove the auction so he can go through the stuff he didn't check out.
I assume that means some of this stuff we've just seen will never be available again. (unless he sends it all to ASIFA-Hollywood's animation archive?)
Glad we had a chance to see it. I've saved the majority of the images and have permission to use them on the site when I get a chance. So that's good at least. There was a lot of great Bakshi studio history in that lot.
Here's the link to the ended auction, which should remain until it drops off ebay after 60-90 days.
